July 2, 2024: The Colleton County Board of Education approved Dr. Martin L. Wright as the new Assistant Superintendent for Operational Management during its July 1, 2024 special board meeting.
Dr. Wright has an extensive background in educational leadership, having led at the district and school levels. With 21 years of public educational leadership experience in South Carolina and Georgia, Dr. Wright has established himself as an innovative and results-oriented leader.
He has held various educational leadership roles, from building assistant principal to serving as the Chief Executive Officer of a school district and co-facilitating the mandated consolidation of Hampton County School Districts 1 and 2. Throughout his career, Dr. Wright has been dedicated to school and district transformation and has demonstrated a unique ability to build strong and trusting relationships with students, staff, families, and colleagues.

Dr. Wright is a graduate of Claflin University, ranked in the top ten percent of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, according to the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges, where he received a B.S. in Elementary Education. Additionally, Dr. Wright holds a Master of Education in Technology in Education from Lesley University, an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organizational Leadership from Columbia International University.
