Thunderbolt Career & Technology Center (TCTC)

TCTC was founded in 1969 to provide career and technology education to the students of Colleton County.  It was originally named the Colleton Area Vocational Center and was renamed to honor the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II who flew red-tipped planes known as Thunderbolts. The Tuskegee Airmen completed part of their training at the Walterboro Air base which  encompassed the property that TCTC now comprises.  Over it's history, TCTC has continued to expand its programs based on the economic needs of Colleton County and of South Carolina and consistently increased the percentage of Colleton County students who graduate as CTE completers with nationally-recognized certifications. TCTC houses the completer programs in agriculture, building construction, culinary arts, early childhood education, mechanical/architectural design, auto technology, masonry, welding technology, and pre-engineering.
